- Greyfriars Hotel wedding photography -
rachael and Daniel
This is the blog post of The Greyfriars hotel wedding photography of Rachael and Daniel in Colchester, Essex.
On a rather unusual mild day in February – in the county of Essex, a special day for images was created for two special people – Rachael & Daniel.
I was asked to cover this wedding at the Essex wedding venue – Greyfriars hotel in Colchester as a second photographer to my good friend and fellow photographer, Darren of Sureshotz photography. He had been commissioned to help provide the wedding photography for this beautiful Essex wedding. Below is their story, through images as I saw it. I hope you enjoy it.
I arrived with Darren at the Greyfriars Hotel in Colchester (A Essex wedding venue that I had not been to until today). We were first on the scene, and it gave us a little chance to scout this wonderful wedding venue and also get ourselves setup (dropped my Nikon d750, which I managed to catch in between my knees…..I could have cried!!). Rachael and her bridal party turned up, so it was time for action!
I love bridal prep – The start of a journey and that air of nervous anticipation for the Bride as she ventures towards a new life is something that evokes emotion. With military like precision – everything went like clockwork. A resemblance of controlled chaos ensued for a short period as the clock ticked by – but these ladies just rolled with it – superb!
What we ended up with was a bridal party that wasn’t just ready, but fine ladies who were ready to rock Essex in style!
With all the bridal prep done and the party ready, it was time to get to the Church. Time was priority, as we were running out of it. We still had time to capture some important images – Including an emotional embrace from Rachael and her Dad.
Steve, like most of us fella’s try hard not to let the hayfever bother him too much – But his excuse was plain to see, as he laid eyes on his beautiful daughter and begin his own journey of delivering one of his most precious gems to the altar –
E M O T I O N A L!!
Myself and Darren arrived at the Church just ahead of the wedding car and I mean just – We got a little lost en route, but still managed to find a space and get ready for the ceremony shoot.
It was a very discrete affair, but it still contained all the magic of a traditional church ceremony for the wedding. After the service and ceremony at St Michael’s Church, we headed back to the Greyfriars hotel to continue the rest of the day.
We were able to use the rest of the time we had taking some images of love for the newly married couple, Rachael and Daniel. I think we created some lovely images for these guy’s too!
After we done the couple shots, we concentrated on getting candid and formal images of all the guests that turned up at this splendid Essex wedding venue. We were kept busy right up to the time to say goodbye.
Below are some of the images that were created. Thankyou for taking the time to read and look through this blog post.
And by the way, if any brides are out there looking to arrange a wedding quick time, then take inspiration from this Bride, Rachael who pulled out all the stops to get this sorted in just 3 WEEKS!!!
Wedding photography for me is my way of giving something to someone that they can cherish for many years to come. A chance to meet a wide variety of people and watch them enjoy the emotional rollercoaster that weddings truly are.
This wedding was no different – Watching and documentating tears, laughter and happiness is what it’s all about-stopping time to capture that smile or that warm and touching embrace keeps me inspired.
This Essex wedding venue – Greyfriars hotel was a great place for this wedding. A discrete and small wedding venue, but it was right for this wedding and was the perfect backdrop for Rachael and Daniel.
